AREAS
BUSINESS AND CONTRACT LAW
We represent corporate clients in the drafting and negotiation of vendor technology and operations contracts, including SaaS and PaaS agreements, license agreements, consulting agreements and services agreements. We also counsel clients on entity formation and organization, risk management, dissolution and winding down. We draft employment agreements, employee handbooks, confidentiality and nondisclosure agreements, independent contractor agreements, business to business agreements, leases, and construction contracts.
LITIGATION
We represent individual and corporate clients in civil litigation matters. We also offer litigation consulting services to law firms and corporate clients to assist with research, writing, and litigation strategy.
CONSTRUCTION LAW
We draft construction agreements for homeowners and contractors. We also represent homeowners and contractors in construction disputes, including, but not limited to mechanic's lien actions.
MEDIATION
Our mediation practice is designed to provide parties with an alternative to litigation. In mediation, parties have the opportunity to resolve their disputes in a less formal setting with the assistance of a neutral third party. We mediate business and commercial disputes.
TRUSTS AND ESTATES
We represent clients in estate planning including drafting of wills, trusts and advanced health care directives.

We also offer litigation management services to corporate clients, and we represent clients in the resolution of disputes. By listening and asking questions, we help our clients resolve disputes, achieve success and implement practices best suited to meet their individual needs and goals.
Having witnessed first-hand how valuable mediation can be for some clients, we encourage parties to consider this dispute resolution process when appropriate. Mediation offers parties an alternative to litigation that is less formal and gives the parties more control over the process and the ultimate outcome. With the assistance of a neutral third party, parties are given the opportunity to resolve their disputes in a relaxed environment. When successful, mediation can result in significant savings of time and money.

Cara resides on Nantucket and has more than 19 years of experience representing individual and corporate clients in all stages of contract negotiation, litigation, mediation, and arbitration. She represents clients in the negotiation and drafting of complex commercial contracts, vendor technology and operations contracts, construction contracts, general business disputes and construction disputes, and litigation management. Cara's litigation background is a valuable tool in contract negotiations and enables her to anticipate legal risks and strategically draft contracts to avoid pitfalls that could result in litigation.
Having witnessed first-hand how valuable mediation can be for some clients, and having successfully helped many clients resolve disputes before trial, Cara was inspired to become a trained mediator. She successfully completed mediation training with MWI in Boston, meeting the standards set forth in the Massachusetts Confidentiality Statute (MGL ch233 sec 23C) and Rule 8(c)(i) of the MA Supreme Judicial Court's Uniform Rules on Dispute Resolution.
Cara's outstanding communication, research and writing skills, along with her ability to multi-task and handle high volumes of contracts set her apart from her peers. While she is zealous in her representation of clients, she is also personable and kind, traits that put clients at ease even at the toughest of times.
Cara earned her law degree from Brooklyn Law School in 2004. She earned her Bachelor's degree from Boston College in 2001, where she completed a double major in English and Political Science in just three years.
Prior to moving to Nantucket, Cara served on the corporate leadership council for the American Heart Association in Fairfield County. She also served on the Board of Directors for the Fairfield County Bar Association, and she was a co-chair and co-founder of the Young Lawyers Committee of WESFACCA. Cara served on the Board of Directors for Habitat for Humanity Nantucket from 2016-2021.
In 2013, Cara was honored with a 40 Under 40 Award from the Fairfield County Business Council. She has also been named a Rising Star by Super Lawyers from 2013-2019, and she received the highest peer review rating by Martindale-Hubbell (AV Preeminent). Cara was named a Charter Fellow by the Construction Lawyers Society of America, a construction lawyer honorary society with selective membership by invitation only based on excellence and accomplishment in construction law and closely related specialties and superior ethical reputation.
